What is an abrasive hose?

Abrasive hoses are flexible conduits specifically designed to transport materials that cause wear due to friction, such as shavings, grains, powders, sand, gravel, pellets, or fibers. They are constructed with special materials and reinforcements to resist internal abrasion and extend their service life.

What makes an abrasive hose different?

The main difference is wear resistance. Abrasive hoses have a thicker inner wall, layers of more robust material, and reinforcements that make them extremely resistant to erosion and punctures, whereas a standard hose wears out quickly.

What maintenance do abrasive hoses require?

  • Regular visual inspection, in order to identify signs of wear, cuts, external abrasions and deformations.
  • Timely replacement. Don't wait until the hose fails completely; preventative replacement avoids unexpected downtime.
  • Interior cleaning to prevent material buildup.

What does abrasion resistance mean?

It is the hose's ability to withstand wear caused by the continuous friction of moving solid particles, without deteriorating prematurely.

Are these hoses suitable only for solids or also for liquids?

These hoses are generally very suitable for solids (powders, granules, pellets, shavings, etc.) and even for slurries or thick pastes. Many are also suitable for liquids, especially if they contain abrasive particles in suspension. However, you should always check the chemical compatibility of the hose material with the specific liquid it is carrying.

What advantages do abrasive hoses offer?

They offer high wear resistance, safety in the transport of aggressive materials, great durability in extreme conditions and adaptability to multiple demanding industrial processes.
