Encapsulated Joints
Disumtec encapsulated gaskets combine the elasticity and sealing strength of an elastomer with the chemical resistance of Teflon®.
They consist of a silicone or Viton® elastomeric core that has a relatively thin encapsulation that has been molded from a FEP or PFA polymer.
The uniform one-piece FEP/PFA encapsulation provides near-universal sealing capability to the encapsulated gasket, while there is constant readjustment and pressure of the encapsulation on the sealing point by the elastomer core. The result is a sealing compression at all points, which increases the average pressure. The encapsulated joint behaves like a highly viscous fluid, so that any pressure exerted on the joint is transmitted without considerable loss in all directions.
