Definition

A trapezoidal screw is a screw with a trapezoidal thread profile that, when rotated within a corresponding nut, produces linear motion. This type of thread offers greater load capacity and resistance to self-locking compared to other threads, such as metric threads.

Applications

Trapezoidal lead screws are used in a wide range of industries and equipment, thanks to their versatility and ability to transmit force and motion accurately and efficiently. Some of their most common applications include:

  • Machine tools: In lathes, milling machines, and drills, trapezoidal spindles are used for tool feed, workpiece positioning, and other linear movements.
  • Presses: In mechanical and hydraulic presses, trapezoidal spindles are used to apply force and pressure in material forming processes.

Based on the DIN-103 standard , they can be supplied in carbon steel EN 180083-2 IC45 - 1.053, in AISI-304 A2 stainless steel or in AISI-316 A4 stainless steel
