Tips for correctly selecting your hose

Below are some features to properly choose a hose.

1. Type of installation

The choice of a flexible tube is always related to the pressure of the circuit to be connected, the work cycles, continuous or with water hammer, the inner diameter of the hose and the type of fluid.

2. Working pressure

According to EN, UNI ISO, DIN and SAE standards, the recommended working pressure ratio is 1:4.

3. Chemical resistance

The hose must be compatible with the external factors to which it will be exposed, such as ozone, sunlight, water, oils and other atmospheric agents.

4. Water hammer

In installations where water hammer occurs (sudden increases in pressure caused by a rapid change in pipe flow rate) it is necessary to choose a flexible hose that can increase the safety factor. Otherwise, a minimum safety factor is sufficient.

5. Working temperature

The temperature indicated on each hose is the maximum for the fluid passing through it, although they can tolerate higher temperatures for short periods of time.

It should be noted that constant work under the maximum temperature reduces the durability of the hose.

6. Volumetric expansion

According to national and international standards.

7. External temperature

Excess heat or cold near the hose could damage the outer coating and reinforcement, reducing its durability.

8. Gaseous fluids

In gaseous environments subjected to high pressures it is very important to correctly select the hose to use. Therefore, it is advisable to increase the safety coefficient.
